Pan Rack

Mid night last night and I’m testing a lens shooting some odds and ends in my house. Hadn’t planned to do a post from any of the work, but I kind of like this image I made of the pan rack.

Bouncing Winter Light

This time of year the light bounces off other buildings and hits the front of the building where I live and work. Same bouncing fill light technique we would use on location, just a giant reflector doing the work. Paying attention to this probably makes me a lighting geek. Also the visual bonus in the upper right side is the blimp flying around down town that day.

Point and Shoot

So I used to carry a Lomo camera in my pocket and just point and shot at the least bit of random visual interest. So I played again with this lens, and it’s freeing from the normal control of an assigned shoot. No serious self important photographic pretense, just shoot.

Plastic Glass

I recently bought some plastic toy camera lenses that can be adapted to my digital camera bodies. Late Sunday afternoon I finally got a chance to go out and shoot with them. So I have a high end digital file with trash glass, or plastic, focusing the light. It’s like putting junk tires on a Ferrari. It does give the image more soul, since digital lenses and camera’s tend to create a purity that I think is stifling. Not sure what I’ll do with these, but I’ll keep experimenting. I use to shoot this type of system with film in a real uncontrolled fashion and it sometimes gave up some fresh free work, so maybe this shakes things up a bit.

Forgot to post this image from my snow shoot. His emotion is about as cheerful as most everybody in the Northeast right now.

Okay last snow picture for awhile, got to be something else out there to photograph.
Tomorrow I get to shoot food. Don’t get to do that often, but I like food and it’s sometimes a cooperative subject. Fortunately I have a good art director and food stylist to work with, so it should be fun.
