First Day Lynchburg

I have my producer and first assistant on this shoot, but the rest of the crew are photography students from one of the local colleges. Days are long, hard and cold, so they get a pretty good bath in the hustle and effort a what production photo shoot entails(read all work no glamor). This is Carolanne, she’s a sweet 86 pound trouper, who worked hard even though I found out her knee was really hurting. I saw her grabbing a moments rest leaning on a reflector.
Polish Neighborhood Brooklyn

Spent the last several days in New York on business. Friday night I stayed in a wonderful Brooklyn Polish neighborhood. I’ve don’t remember the texture, or what cloths hung out to dry smell like, but can you imagine the amount of energy we use drying clothes in the average American home. Worse yet, imagine if the American public were told to air dry their cloths to save energy-draw your own conclusion I’m not sure there’s single one that’s got it all right.
Back in Virginia and packing to leave to shoot the next 5 days in Lynchburg.

Scouting The Bike Path

Found a place on the bike path to make that picture and check it off the list. I’ll be in that same spot one week from today, with a biker and a man walking his dog, plus clients, and crew et al. If the weather holds all should go well.

Scouted a hotel today that was a former shoe factory. Beautiful restored space, but it could also be a dream house if you have a foot fetish.

Scouting in Lynchburg Virginia. I worked here about 8 years ago and what a change this place has made, lots of interesting restored buildings, and some nice restaurants. That’s about all I know right now.
Diner Breakfast and The Laptop

Not too many informal post-production meals happen without a laptop coming out towards the end and someone showing a website, or production project of some kind. Does make for some relaxing banter after the early start time and the intensity of the shoot.
Of note, the check is on my side of the table to pay.
