Clouds

I’ve always enjoyed clouds. Once my 8th grade science paper is published (complete with diagrams), I’ll probably be recognized as an expert in the field. Now that I’m a “grown up,” I just take pictures of them, for no other reason than they are a beautiful and fascinating subject.
Today the clouds blow in late afternoon and ended my shoot, but tomorrow we’ll be at it again.

Last Fall I got a call about a shoot for Sky Magazine of a man named Randy Pausch. I was on location at the time, but thought it sounded interesting and agreed to work on it when I got back. I didn’t realize at the time what an inspiring soul I was about to meet. I spent an afternoon with him about two weeks later and got a glimpse of his extraordinary persona. I’ve only chatted with him once since, but I’ve followed his most impressive life and the impact he’s had on so many. He died today, and though I’m not much prone to hero worship, he was an unusually good soul. Perhaps in his dying we can learn a little more about how we can live.
Mother Daughter

While waiting on the ferry couple Saturdays ago, I got to watch this early morning confrontation between a mother and daughter on the bow of a boat. I think the mother won this round, but it’s always hard to tell these things. That complicated give and take will go on for decades into their future.

Saw this line of used U Haul rental trucks on Saturday and it reminded me of all the used discards from the flea market series I just posted. Probably a lot of history in all those old rental trucks. The sky comes courtesy of the tropical storm off the coast.

This little trophy from someone’s sewing room pretty well rounds out my impression of the flea market and it’s contents. Charming, but nothing much I need.

Not sure this was for sale or what it was ever used for in a previous life, but it gave some interesting texture to the jewelry display.
