Window Shot

I normally get the aisle seat on airplanes. I’m not small and I fit better by the aisle. Anyway it means I don’t often see much out the window, but couple months ago I had an all night flight to Brazil and I had the whole row, so that next morning I looked out to see this beautiful sky. Nice moment. ( I probably should crop more off the top)

Taking care of this odd little dog. He looks like he could have been a character in some old English novel.

Not sure why we bother with the amaryllis. One spends most of the year looking at green leaves, then putting the plant in hibernation for 6 to 8 weeks, then pulling it out and eventually getting a bloom for 5 or 6 days, and then you let it wither because if you cut off the faded stem, it probably won’t bloom the next year. A full year’s cycle of nurture for maybe 6 days of bloom. No doubt this will bring howls from those who care about such details, but I’m not sure I do…anymore. So why bother? Because my father grew them by the dozens, and during their bloom cycle he would give them to people he cared about and let them enjoy those beautiful colors, and when the blooms faded he would take them back to nurture for that next year, and when they were ready to be beautiful he would hand them out again. He could be generous like that. Yesterday I came home to find in the 3rd day of this flowers bloom, its stem had snapped. They do that if they are too heavy and not properly supported, and I had failed to provide that support. So I’ve disrupted the delicate cycle of the amaryllis, and it likely won’t bloom next year. Somewhere out there my father is disapproving.

One of my favorite foods to fix, or one of my favorite bar foods. Sometimes I get to shoot them too.

Yesterday I went to the dentist, and was playing with my iPhone. Not much else to say about that, but she probably won’t like the picture.
