Shooting Drew On Granby
Posted on Feb 23, 2012 in Photos

Had a recent assignment from Distinction Magazine to photograph a Drew Ungvarsky, owner of Grow Interactive. Despite his dramatic success in the industry, he still rides his bike to work most everyday and keeps his business in Norfolk, vs heading to one of the logical media capitals (read NYC). I needed to get a cover shot, so the idea was shoot him in front of his building and down the city street holding a bike tire. I almost instantly had this exact image in my minds eye, and despite dodging traffic and a cold January afternoon, it came together just like the plan. Nice to see it all work out.

So much going for this image. The intense contrast brings out the symmetries, pushes up the white lines, white outline of the wheel and even the white edges of the model’s tennis shoes. Striking!
