Another Day on press.
Listening to Albert King, “Blues At Sunrise”

Doing a press check today for my first print promo piece in a long time. This is Wayne and he had the press running like a fine instrument.
Listening to Neil Young, “Helpless”

I made a time lapse of this scene, but haven’t had a chance to pull it together. Still, even without the time lapse effect, this image does give me a sense and reminds me of why I like Hatteras in the winter.
Listing to Gary Clark, “Things Are Changin”

Proof that while I was in Hatteras I made pictures of something besides sunsets and miscellaneous pelicans flying by the deck.
Listening to Phish, “Harry Hood”

Windy days and there were no dolphins to watch, but a good substitute was the kite surfers. Made several hundred pictures of this guy and never could decide which one I liked. If I ever tried this I would end up in Spain.

Hatteras morning Pelican flyby.
Listening to Elvis Costello, “Dust”

Here’s my proof that, no matter how trite or cliched, most photographers are sucker for a sunset, especially when it’s the last one of 2011. The odd thing is on Hatteras in the winter, because of the angle of the island, the sun rises and sets on the water. No complaints.
Listening to Sunny Ade, “Ja Funmi”

Sometimes your first and intended shot is not the most interesting. I made this 19 minutes after I shot my 2nd annual new year cake at sunrise shot. Since I traditionally greet the new year’s sunrise on the beach with a bloody mary in hand, I had a few minutes to watch my candles burn down and enjoy the fairly warm morning. In that time I began to notice the burned out candles were a more interesting story than the perfect cake shot. Sometimes it’s good to wait for better things.
Listening to Camille, “Katie’s Tea”
